Dragon Lake is the nickname for a body of water formed by the Bratskove Reservoir , built along the Angara river in southern Siberia, near the city of Bratsk.In the winter of December 1999 an image was acquired by Landsat 7’s Enhanced Thematic Mapper plus (ETM+) sensor captivating the lake ice white and frozen. In 2012 created on artist canvas with just black and white paint my own interpretation of Dragon Lake continues to hold the memory and form depicted in the original image from NASAs archives, but in true abstract art fashion, enabled by the freedom of imagination, seeks to release that moment in time, and manifests an original black and white abstract painting that “considers” the geological and environmental changes that may have or may yet to occur, that we have yet to witness.
